Lore & Legends As they work from grain to bottle, it all starts with creating their own base alcohol with corn and a part of wheat.  Then, around ten ingredients representing the Quebec terroir will give the gin the personality, starting of course with juniper berries, coriander, and in what we have been told, iris root,  haskap and sea buckthorn.  It is left to stand for time to stabilize before being bottled.  The result is a 41% gin that is very balanced and soft on the palate, very slightly floral, subtly fruity, a small touch of citrus, a peppery side too, with a good length on the finish.

Récif Récif gin is a nod to the coastal environment where it is distilled; the name refers to the many reefs near the shore along the Gaspé coast. It springs straight from the imagination of its creator, Joseph St-Denis Boulanger, master distiller at Distillerie des Marigots. The initial idea was to create a distinctive gin faithful to the characteristics of traditional gin. Thus, the juniper berry is prominently present, as are notes of citrus fruits, spices and roots. Récif’s top notes feature dark honey aromas with a fragrant roundness, and earthy and iodine accents evolving towards a hint of citrus and wildflowers, before giving way to a long spicy finish.
